Dear Professor ,
I am sorry to inform you that your paper is not acceptable for publication in CCA.
Last year you have published in CCA in the same clinical setting that serum cystatin C and urine N-acetyl-β-d-glucosaminidase predicted AKI. It was an interesting observation from clinical chemistry point-of-view. This time you extend the prediction by machine learning models (ANN model) to a model also including Cr, LDH, PLT, AST, PCT and APACHE II. It is a very important finding from clinical point-of-view however from clinical chemistry point-of-view the addition of “elementary” lab parameters such as Cr, LDH, PLT, AST cannot anymore be considered as cutting edge science. The novelty of the findings from clinical chemistry point-of-view is too low to warrant publication. CCA receives many good submissions but we have to prioritize the manuscripts which will provide our readership with novel concepts on relatively novel biomarkers. As the manuscript is clinically important surgery-, nephrology- or intensive care- oriented clinical journals might be interested in your manuscript.
